After testing some of the main stream name brand scopes, we tested out the Athlon Ares ETR 3-18 for use on our AR10 .308 sniper rifles. We currently run one of the more expensive name brands and were lookin for a replacement. This scope was impressive out of the box and far exceeds the price point in quality. The APLR6 FFP IR MOA reticle had all the information needed to make quick range estimations and target holds. We even shot this glass at 5 yards just to test out some of our gun dope.

The glass is very clear and rivals some of the scopes that are two and three times the price. The illuminated reticle is easy to use and to employ without taking your eyes off the scope. The elevation and windage changes are very crisp making it easy to dial a dope and know exactly what you dialed. Having the windage locked until necessary was an added bonus. While we use this scope in a tactical environment, it is a comfort to know whether tactical or competitive, you haven't inadvertently changed your windage while moving with the rifle (which has caused me to miss big in competitions).

As for durability, in a law enforcement environment, our rifles ride around in the back of our vehicles and get bumped around a lot. This scope holds up to the abuse and maintains a zero without hesitation.

We also tested out the TSR1 red dot which did not disappoint. With the motion activated on function, the red dot was ready for use when picking the rifle up. It was easy to mount and easy to zero. The TSR1 showed repeated accuracy and durability along with the Ares ETR.

Bottom line is don't spend your money until you have checked out an Athlon scope, they make high quality scopes for much cheaper than the competition.
