Choose a Reticle Type

Built off the success of the 1st generation Ares BTR, the GEN2 is still a top-tier riflescope, without the price tag. The Ares GEN2 acquires a new stainless steel turret design, just like the Midas TAC and Ares ETR lines. The new turret design features sharper, more tactile clicks. Still featuring HD glass, a new optical system provides an even brighter and clearer image throughout the magnification range. A one-piece, precision machined aircraft-grade aluminum 6061-T6 aluminum scope body, precision zero stop, and impeccable tracking will deliver precise, accurate results in any field.

I wish that there was a "very good" rating on the rating scale as I feel that this scope is better than "Good".

I own both the Ares BTR Gen 2 as listed here and also the Cronus BTR 4.5-29 as well. I have the Cronus on my Vudoo that I shoot NRL22 / PRS Rimfire competition with and I think that it is a fantastic scope (best bang for the buck in that mid-upper echelon class of scopes). Due to my experience with the Cronus, I purchased the Ares to put on my new Volquartsen custom. I feel that it is perfectly suited to my expectations for that firearm and given my great experience with the Cronus, I have high expectations for the Ares.

In my time thus far with the Ares, it is living up to my expectations. The turrets are very good and nearly as good as the Cronus (very tactile and audible with a good feel). The glass is better than the competitor's (brand that starts with a V) scope that I owned for a limited time which was at a similar price / specification point. Further, the general handling feels comparable to other, next tier, scopes that I've owned and handled. This experience reflects the same thing that I experienced with the Cronus, the Athlon offerings simply punch above their weight and you get a scope that is a tier better than the price indicates.

I would certainly recommend this scope to a friend and in general I'm coming to expect great things from any Athlon product and thus would recommend the brand in general.

Bought a scope to live on top of my 6.5 Creedmoor, and it was great - until it wasn't. Spoke with Chuck, who fixed me right up with a new replacement scope. Here's the thing... it was on my front porch LESS THAN 48 HOURS after I spoke to Chuck. When the RMA shipping ticket was emailed to him, he immediuately put the replacement scope in the mail. Same day.
Doesn't get any better than that.
Oh - and the replacement is perfect. Almost like cheating at 400 yds, easy at 600 yds, works great for 1000yds (I am the limitation beyond 600).
Best bang for the buck I have ever seen.
Buy with confidence - I will again.

Received my Athlon BTR 4.5-27 this week and had the opportunity to shoot it today next to my zeiss V6 5-30. You guys did an awesome job with this scope. The clarity was on par with the zeiss which I didn’t expect at all from a scope less than half the price. The magnification dial feels perfect and it focuses easy. If I had one complaint about the scope it would be the clicks on the turrets feeling too light but that’s my personal preference. The reticle is perfect for what I do (long range shooting and hunting). Glad I ran across your scopes, now time to see if it holds up to pack trips in the hills.

Thanks,
Mark

Crystal clear optics and precise adjustment turrets. Can't find anything to complain about. Really like the razor sharp reticle it is bright enough for sunny day use if needed.Turret clicks are on the soft side but fully functional. Very nice scope a real value at this price point, optics as good as scopes costing much more. I can't speak to the longevity, but so far I feel like I bought a winner, I guess time will tell. It usually does.
